<lj:music>Fisherman's Blues, by The Punters</lj:music>

Okay, let's face it - I'm not getting too many views here.
But I have to be honest with whoever's reading this. I still love writing here. It's freeing to be able to talk about (almost) anything.
It does give a sort-of relief to just chat away about everything.
Plus, I get updates through Anna on solarbird 's recovery, which is going along uberly smoothly.

This calls for vertical movement...

Sorry about that. GBS fandom showing again.

Well, I've got a tough decision to make, folks. Since I was a part-time (nightshift) caretaker, I raked up a couple bucks of spending money. Now, I have to decide wether to go camping, which I absolutely adore, or go shopping in Moncton. Now, I'm certainly not a shopaholic, but we rarely go to Moncton, and it's the only decent place to buy, well, anything. Plus, I'd do anything to take a walk in Musicstop. I'm like Alan on this point; I'd save a lot of money if the store were closed.

I met a guy who made me smile last time we went camping. I was in the little park playing songs on my guitar, and a family showed up. Two couples, two kids. One of the men, who looked remarkably like Murray Foster, sat next to me on the picnic table, and chatted with me about my guitar. Told me I played wonderfully. After he went back to his kids, they sat on the picnic table behind me. Once I finished playing Sea of No Cares, he applauded and said, "Great Big Sea! Rock on!"
That made me smile. =)

Cheers,
Stéph

<lj:music>Walk Through My Door, by Gaelic Storm</lj:music>

Well, after a good, oh say... 6 hours of sleep? Yeah, that's about it. I find myself back here. Darn, this place is addictive!
Now I seriously don't know what to talk about. ^^;
Well, let's talk about music.

I started playing the piano when I was three. My dad had gotten me a cheap-arse organ of sorts, with little more than 20 keys. I played on that thing day after day, hour after hour. When I was six, a very nice lady gave me a digital keyboard! Needless to say, that thing got USED.
A little before last Christmas, dad got me a new keyboard. The works. Digital LCD screen, touch sensitivity... Just... WOW.
So I started playing the guitar in October. My dad's 30 year old Gunn acoustic;

I learned The Scolding Wife, by Great Big Sea, as a first song. what's interesting is that there's no acoustic guitar on the verses of this song! By this summer, I'm getting calls for gigs left and right, and forgetting about a few. ^^;
I did dreadfully neglect my piano for the guitar, but I recently blew the dust off of it, and it's rarin' to go!

Cheers,
Stéph

    <lj:music>Twilight, by Eliott Smith</lj:music>

I'd love to start this out with amazing events of my day, but I have none. I spent a pretty bored day around the house, and it's getting pretty late as I type this.
I'd just love to talk about a great memory I have, if you'd like. Just a little tidbit of my life.
This memory so fittingly happened on the 20th of March, which is five days after my birthday. That was this year. My very first concert with my closest friend Danika.

The band was Great Big Sea, a band I've loved since the age of three. Three gorgeous b'ys from the Tropical Island of Newfoundland, playing their own and traditional songs, with the help of an Ontarian, and a Nova Scotian.

Alan Doyle, Séan McCann, Bob Hallett, Kris MacFarlane and Murray Foster.
Great Big Sea

They played the Moncton Capitol Theatre, and we'd had our tickets since October! Thirteen years I'd awaited that show, and I sure as heck wasn't disapointed. Those b'ys sound better live than they do on CD, and I didn't regret a dime I spent. We laughed through the banter, and swayed through the songs. I've never been so happy in my entire life, and Danika's the best person I could've spent it with. (I didn't squeak, OKAY? *lol*)

I spoke to Glenn, who runs the merchandise stand, four times between before and after the show. He's Séan McCann's brother. What a sweety! I ended up handing him a portrait I'd done of Bob, and he promised to get it to him. <3 Thanks a bunch, Glenn!

We, unfortunatly, were a bit far back... So thanks to the Amazing Kate for this pic!

From left to right,
Murray Foster (acoustic & upright bass), Bob Hallett (fiddle, whistles, flutes, concertina, button accordian), Alan Doyle (acoustic & electric guitars, bouzouki), Séan McCann (acoustic guitar, bodhran, tin whistle), Kris MacFarlane (drums, bodhran, piano accordian)

Keep it up, b'ys.

-Stéphanie
